Holiday Villa Lanzarote restaurants

Here is a selection of Lanzarote restaurants recommended by Villa Penas Blancas.

Updated October 2016.

This selection below is not comprehensive. In general, advance table reservations will NOT be required in any restaurant on Lanzarote unless it’s very high season and or Saturday night. The best time to ensure a table, is before 8pm or after 10pm. Spanish persons often eat late.

Lanzarote Canary Islands Spain Restaurant Custom. Typically after you are seated in a restaurant on Lanzarote, the waiter/waitress will ask you for your DRINKS orders ONLY. The waiter will only then (a bit later) bring the FOOD menus. This can be annoying, so if you are hungry, ask to see the food menus straight away. The pace in all restaurants on Lanzarote is a lot slower than in the UK.

In Puerto Calero Marina. "Papardello" Tel: 928 51 29 11. On the marina front in front of the yellow submarine. Italian, spanish style pizzas meat and fish. Good selection. Open all day & stays open quite late.

In Playa Quemada. "Restaurant Casa Tino". Tel: (+34) 928 17 37 07. The sole restaurant available in the quiet fishing village of Playa Quemada on the south east coast of Lanzarote. Usually open every day, lunch and dinner. Situated on the beach front. Look for the many light bulbs on top of building. Usually a good selection of fresh fish available each day. Sea Bass and grouper. Take the main LZ2 road.  At the LZ2 Playa Quemada roundabout, follow the road signs. Car park is in the off road car park, in front of the restaurant. Walk to sea front to enter.

In Puerto Del Carmen - Old Town / Fishing Harbour.

"Restaurant Sal Y Piementos". Tel: 928 515 660. Situated above the Puerto Del Carmen Old Town Harbour front on the far right of the harbour overlooking the sea, with the sea to one’s right. Possibly the best restaurant on Lanzarote. This is an  excellent restaurant for lunch or dinner. Have a table outside on the terrace at lunchtime. Booking is not normally required in the evenings but sometimes is advisable due to its location & popularity. There is always a selection of well cooked Spanish & some ‘international’ dishes and a range of daily specials. Excellent quality restaurant with good food & wine list. Owned & managed by Modesta. Restaurant has heated terraces in the evening. Excellent views of the sea, PDC Old Town Harbour & beyond.

"Restaurant El Cangrejo Rojo": Located up-stairs in Puerto Del Carmen Old Town.  Good for lunch or dinner, but better for dinner as has good views of the Old Town & Harbour. Turn right at junction at the bottom of the hill in the Old Town of PDC and park sensibly. It’s up some polished wooden stairs opposite a chemist and a small paved area next to large metal re-cycling drums in the street. Note: It can get cool in the evenings on Lanzarote so best to have a table half inside and half outside. The food here is quite good but service speed can be a bit ‘sluggish’.

"Restaurant El Sardinio": Located on the Harbour front of Puerto Del Carmen Old Town, near to the boules area. Eat upstairs in the t) restaurant in the evenings. Downstairs (harbour side) is good daytime.

"Restaurant Puerto Viero". On the Harbour front of Puerto Del Carmen by the boules area. Good for lunch or dinner. Have a table outside on the terrace at lunchtime – go inside for dinner. Selection of well cooked Spanish & some ‘international’ dishes. Owned & run by Spanish.

In Nazaret: "Restaurant Lagomar". See: http://www.lag-o-mar.com/

In Playa Blanca: "Casale Franco". Located behind Playa Dorada beach and adjacent to the Princesa Yaiza Suite Hotel. Pizza and Pasta and other other Italian dishes. Top floor has a private terrace offering views of Playa Blanca and a good location to enjoy Lanzarote’s magnificent sunsets

In Arrecife: "The Arrecife Gran Hotel". Tel: 928 800 000: On the seafront in Arrecife. The Gran Hotel is the tallest building on Lanzarote. Underground car parking. Restaurant is on the top (17th) floor with very good food & service & excellent views of the sea and inland. Quite formal. A reservation will be required. Worth a visit for the excellent views. There is also a bar on the 17th floor offering drinks only.

Information on Wine Lanzarote: Red Rioja’s on Lanzarote are Vina Pomal, Vina Albina and many others. €24–30 per bottle charge in restaurants. Faustino is a very good red rioja. It’s available from most supermarkets and most restaurants. There is a local Lanzarote wine called “El Griffo”.

Vina Sol (Chardonnay) Red or White is a good wine and is available from most supermarkets from €4/bottle, and in most restaurants. A good white for easy drinking on Lanzarote is Vina Esmerelda. This wine is a light slightly scented, very slightly sweet, Spanish white. It costs €6 -€8 in supermarkets and is on some Lanzarote restaurant wine lists.
